  Television Trek normally has emergencies occurring during the afternoon, when everybody has had lunch and are feeling a little bored. I imagine there must be one episode where people get woken up at night but I can’t remember it. There’s presumably a whole extra crew who operate the ship during the ‘nighttime’ whom we never see.

• 19.3

  Condition red doesn’t always mean battle; it means the highest level of readiness: every one is on duty, or is ready to dive in as a hot back-up as needed.
