  The USS Ballarat is the command ship for the squadron the USS Mumbai is in, named for the HMAS Ballarat, which was in turn named for the Autralian city Ballarat.

  The USS ShirKahr is another, even older, Shinjuku-class starship, named for ShiKahr, a city on Vulcan introduced in the Animated Series episode ‘Yesteryear’. The spelling of the ship name is consistent with the NCC-31905 that appeared in the Deep Space Nine episode ‘Tears of the Prophets’.
